The stand-alone programs all run independently. Most programs are applicable to most sports, and some have a variety of other applications. Three programs are somewhat unique. MATCHUP is used to find suitable partners. SCHEDULE is used for reservations and scheduling applications. EZDB is an easy-to-use versatile database/mailing program.

MATCHUP has many applications, but it was designed primarily to match
people as suitable partners, with respect to skill levels and times available.
Most clubs provide this service, but it usually is dependent on the resident
pro. MATCHUP simplifies the process so others can use the computer to match
a player with a suitable available partner. MATCHUP also produces reports
enabling the players themselves to find partners.
MATCHUP simplifies matching people for sports and other activities. MATCHUP
lists all people for requested activities, skill levels, and times available.
The results are shown real-time on the screen and/or in printed reports.
A variety of reports show general information about people and who is available
for each activity, with their skill levels and times available.
MATCHUP can be used for finding players/partners for racquet sports, golf,
individual sports, team sports, card games, chess, board games, etc. MATCHUP
also can be used for selecting referees, teachers/tutors, temporary workers,
students, volunteers, genealogy researchers, etc., etc. MATCHUP is useful
for most sports and a wide variety of other activities. Send an e-mail to see if MATCHUP
can be used for your particular need.
SCHEDULE is software for reserving (scheduling) facilities, e.g., courts, fields, rooms, etc. The software also can be used to schedule people, e.g., referees, teachers, consultants, etc. You even can use the software to schedule items, e.g., cars, tools, etc.
Each facility (person, item, etc.) can be scheduled for a specific date and time period. The software will ensure there are no conflicting reservations. You can enter money paid and owed. Six note fields can be used to meet your needs. The data can be sorted 11 different ways, and viewed on the screen or in printed reports. The software is versatile, easy to use, and should be quite helpful.
SCHEDULE and MATCHUP are implicitly referenced for development
of a patent (United States Patent 6978246, http://www.patentstorm.us/patents/6978246.html
EZDB probably is the least expensive (FREE), most flexible, easy-to-use database
and mailing list program. You quickly create a database structure and can
start entering data immediately. All functions are easily selected from menus.
Available functions include: entering/editing/viewing data, sorting, searching,
reports, labels, back-up, repair, view/print structure, file management,
import/export ASCII files, and DOS commands.
EZDB has the features most useful to you:
1. Quick easy database setup. Three types of database structures, from completely
computer designed (1 minute) to completely user designed (3 minutes). Special
application database structures can be used for a quick start.
2. Easy to enter, edit, and view data.
3. Fast easy sorting of data. Almost any variety of sorting is available.
4. Extensive search (filter) capability. Search for range of data in one
field. Search for desired data in any number of fields, with any of five
matching accuracies (20% to 100%). The search includes 'NOT' capability.
You can search for records or fields that contain specified data, with different
degrees of matching accuracy. You also can search for records or fields that do
not contain specified data. The search includes 'OR' capability, whereby any one
of five criteria will satisfy the requirement. You can do a search on a search,
so there is almost an infinite variety of search filters you can create. With
very little effort, you should be able to find any desired information in your
database.
5. Two computer designed report formats. One contains all data as shown on
the data entry screen. The other is a condensed format with any fields that
you select in the sequence you choose. Save and re-use any report format.
6. Labels in 16 different formats, with 2 to 5 lines.
7. The data viewed, reports, and labels can be the results of a search and
in any desired sequence.
8. Create ASCII (text) files to export data to other computer programs and
to other EZDB databases. The files can contain any or all database fields,
in any order.
9. Read ASCII files to import data to your database from other computer programs
and other EZDB databases. The files can contain the data in any order and
can have fields to be excluded.
10. A variety of useful utilities: back-up, remove deleted records, view/print
database structure, change database field names, file management, DOS commands,
repair database files.
11. EZDB can store player data for easiest entry into TENNIS 1>2>3.
You can transfer your club player data to EZDB using an ASCII (text)
file, for easy access by T123.

The stand-alone programs do not require TENNIS 1>2>3 or any other
programs. Each program runs separately and can be ordered individually. The
stand-alone programs are for all sports.
*** 1. LEAGUE: Easily makes complete schedules
for your leagues and round robin tournaments. The team pairings and time
assignments are entirely random, so an absolutely unbiased schedule is produced.
No other league program has this feature. The schedules show full team names
and have room for telephone numbers or other information.
LEAGUE will schedule an unlimited number of teams, with each team playing
every other team as many times as you choose. The schedules can include date
and time for each game (automatically scheduled), day of the week, home and
away, and space for site (court/field) information. LEAGUE automatically
produces forms for league scores and for league standings with won/lost records;
the data are entered manually. Court/field usage reports are produced, with
number of courts/fields used and number available for every game time.
LEAGUE was reviewed on page 94 of the March 1989 issue of JOPERD (Journal
of Physical Education, Recreation, and Dance). The following excerpts are
from the review:
"LEAGUE is a software program which may be helpful for physical education,
recreation and intramural professionals involved in scheduling tournament
play. ... The screen layout is neat in appearance... Changing information
is easy... ...there are few problems. The computer does random scheduling
for each round so there are no biased results. ...the program assimilates
all data and quickly organizes the results. ... The software does what it
says it will do very quickly."
*** 2. LEAGUE2: League scheduling (same
capabilities as LEAGUE, but more versatile), plus league statistics and
management. Enter the match/game results and LEAGUE2 automatically determines
league standings and statistics. LEAGUE2 stores names, addresses, phones,
and match/game results (including scores). LEAGUE2 produces a variety of
reports and labels. LEAGUE2 is easy to use, and works as well or better than
software costing 3 to 10 times as much.
*** 3. WIN2: Makes a single or double elimination
schedule for up to 64 teams. Complete draw sheets are produced for the winners'
bracket and for the losers' bracket. All game times through the finals are
automatically scheduled for both brackets and shown on the draw sheets.
WIN2 makes three types of draws: balanced pairings, maximum seeding advantage,
or direct placement. Seeded teams and/or nonseeded teams can be placed randomly
or nonrandomly. Crossing of brackets is used to prevent pairing the same
teams in the losers' bracket who met previously in the winners' bracket.
WIN2 is the only available double elimination scheduler with all of these
features. WIN2 is easy to use and very fast.
*** 4. MIXER: Round robin doubles mixers where
up to 32 players change partners and opponents to play with and against all
other players. MIXER randomly assigns players and match times, so an absolutely
unbiased schedule is produced. Enter the match results and MIXER automatically
determines player won/lost records and standings. MIXER stores names, addresses,
phones, and match/game results (including scores). MIXER produces a variety
of reports and labels. MIXER mostly will produce absolutely perfect rotations,
or so close that it can be considered near perfect.
Correctly scheduling rotating-partners leagues is extremely difficult. Each
player should play with every other player once, and against every other
player twice, but should not play against any player twice before playing
against every other player once. It required several years before MIXER could
produce these results. We do not know of any other software that works as well.
NOTE: MIXER was not designed for mixed doubles. That also is a difficult
problem. We have spent some time on the mixed doubles problem, but decided it
was not worth the effort. If you have solved some rotations for mixed doubles
(even if for some multiples of four), please let us know. We may be able to use
your solutions for a MIXER2 mixed doubles program.
*** 5. LADR: Challenge ladder management.
Automatically updates player ladder positions when match results are entered.
LADR calculates and stores monthly and yearly ladder participation points
and won/lost statistics, which can be used for awards and trophies. LADR
also stores the date of the last match, present and previous ladder positions,
player names and addresses (including 2 phones), and the results of all
matches/games played (including scores).
Player ladder positions are shown on the screen and in 8 report formats.
Reports are available for player addresses and phones, player participation
points and won/lost statistics, dates of last matches played (to find inactive
players). Reports of the match/game results can be made for any one player,
for all players, or between any two players. Mailing labels can be produced.
LADR simplifies managing challenge ladders, stimulates player interest, and
increases participation. Every club should be using LADR, especially at our
low price.
*** 6. RANK: For ranking tennis and racquetball
singles players and doubles teams. Ranking committees can select their desired
ranking criteria from a large variety of RANK options and easily design their
own ranking systems. RANK will calculate the rank points each player gets
for each match, or the you can calculate and enter the rank points. RANK
processes all the match results and automatically determines new rankings
when requested.
RANK software includes the best features used for ranking by professional
and amateur sports associations, plus the option to use scores. RANK was
developed for sports clubs and regional sports associations to simplify ranking
players, stimulate player interest, and to increase participation. RANK
calculates each player's monthly and yearly rank points, participation points,
won/lost statistics, and momentum indicators (whether a player is moving
up or down). RANK also stores the date of the last match, present and previous
rank, player names and addresses (including 2 phones) and the results of
all matches/games played.
RANK will meet the needs of most sports clubs and organizations. Plus, RANK
is more versatile and costs much less than any comparable software.
*** 7. RANK2: RANK2 ranks individual doubles
players, who may play with different doubles partners. RANK2's features are
similar to those of RANK.
*** 8. RATE: For rating tennis and racquetball
singles players and doubles teams. (RATE also can rate individual doubles
players, who may play with different doubles partners.) Rating committees
can select their desired rating criteria from a large variety of RATE options
and easily design their own rating systems. RATE will calculate the rate
points each player gets for each match, or the you can calculate and enter
the rate points. RATE also ranks players. RATE is one of only a few programs
that rate players, and the least expensive.
RATE quickly and accurately rates all players using the results of competition
and two or more reference (bench-mark) player ratings. The reference ratings
can be changed any time to improve the rating accuracy. RATE was developed
for sports clubs and regional sports associations to simplify rating players,
stimulate player interest, and to increase participation. RATE calculates
each player's monthly and yearly rate points, won/lost statistics, and momentum
indicators (whether a player is moving up or down). RATE also stores the
date of the last match, present and previous rank, player names and addresses
(including 2 phones) and the results of all matches/games played (including
scores).
